| Q Ball 2009 | | | | | L - R: Deirdre Walsh & Emma Callan, Eoin Fennessy & Emily O'Donnell, Elaine Quinne, Emily Gibson & Leonie McCabe, Avila and Rosalind Lipsett & Elaine Stenson, Joanne Dever & Joanna Lawlor, Jodie O'Kane & Sarah Lipsett | The Burlington Hotel was the venue for the sixth running of the legendary Q ball in aid of Spinal Injuries Ireland. 600 guests enjoyed a fantastic evening and raised in excess of 80,000 euro. This year, due to severe cut backs in HSE funding, all the proceeds of fundraising will go towards our crucial outreach program. Our 2 outreach workers travel the country visiting our members in their own homes and encourage them to begin the difficult journey back towards an active life as a wheelchair user.
The evening, which was expertly MC’d by Siobhan Bastible, kicked off with a red and white wine reception kindly sponsored by The Burlington in their newly revamped Bellini’s bar. Dinner was delicious and was complimented by lovely Chilean Korta Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc wines, sponsored by Stafford wines.
Among the auction items were a luxurious 2 night stay in both the Cliff House and Kellys of Rosslare, and a trip to the FA Cup final with 2 nights in Clarridges. The real partying started when ‘Springbreak’ took to the stage, performing all the classic hits from the 80’s. They performed for over 2 hours, and were followed up by the excellent Kenny boy doing DJ. The revellers were still crying out for more so lucky there was an after party to go to. A big thanks Philly Quinlan and the committee of Eoin Bastible, Liz Smyth, Susan Mitchell, Jenny Berkery and Amanda O’Boyle.
