DID YOU KNOW... If you donate a minimum of €250.00 during the year to us (that's just €21 per month!) and you pay income tax exclusively through the PAYE system, the value of your donation to Spinal Injuries Ireland can be increased dramatically and IT WILL COST YOU NOTHING - SERIOUSLY!
Here's how it works - SII can claim an extra 25% of the value of your donations if you pay income tax at the standard rate of 20%, while we can claim an extra 69% if you pay tax at the higher rate of 41%. All of this at no extra cost to you.

So PLEASE make sure you let us know what type of tax payer you are (if you are self employed the benefit is to you).

Adjustment to life with a spinal cord injury is never simple and must include early support, rehabilitation and education. With an average of one individual a week suffering from new spinal injuries there is a definite need in Ireland for the existence of an organisation dealing specifically with the needs and issues of people with spinal injuries. Although Spinal Injuries Ireland has made significant progress over the last decade through the introduction of a dynamic programme of activities, there is still a long way to go in terms of developing adequate services and resources for its members. The development of such services can only be achieved through the support and commitment of people from all sectors of society. In order to provide an effective service for its members, Spinal Injuries Ireland needs to raise funds for the development of various aspects of their work.

Funding:

The need for Spinal Injuries Ireland has been constantly reaffirmed since its establishment in 1993 and the demand for the support provided by Spinal Injuries Ireland is ever increasing. The programmes provided really work and give individuals a renewed sense of purpose. The issues and problems for the person with the spinal cord injury and their families are unique and require a response that only Spinal Injuries Ireland’s training and support programmes can provide. During its early years, the organisation was mainly funded through a combination of grants from various government agencies and state schemes such as Fás. However, SII can no longer rely solely on these avenues, as the level of funding needed to develop adequate services is simply not available. Therefore the SII has now begun to seek more substantial funding from private sources, namely from individuals, corporations and foundations.

The London Q Ball

The London "Q" Ball will take place on Saturday, the 31st of May, in the Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel. The organisers of the London "Q" Ball hope to raise £10,000 for Spinal Injuries Ireland (SII), a charity which helps people on the long road to rehabilitation from spinal injuries. The event is named after Philly Quinlan, a key fund-raiser for SII, after himself being confined to a wheelchair after a serious accident.

Tickets for the 2008 London Q Ball are now on sale and are priced at £120 per person. The price includes a Guinness and Champagne reception, a 3 course meal, live entertainment, a DJ and an after party until 5:00 am. Tables of 10 are available for £1,200.
