If you have a disability and think your workplace could be made more accessible or your work equipment could be easier to use, your employer may be able to get a grant from FÁS towards the cost of adapting premises or equipment. |
|  | Wage Subsidy Scheme. This scheme is operated by FÁS. It offers financial support for employers who employ certain people with disabilities on a full-time basis. |  | Back to Work Allowance This enables a person with a disability to take up employment or become self-employed and retain a percentage of their social welfare payment. If you are in receipt of disability allowance for at least 12 months you will be paid 75% of your payment for the first year, 50% for the second year and 25% for the third. In addition you can keep all your secondary benefits. (For self-employed people it is 4 years, the first year being 100%. Apply to your local Social Welfare Office.) |
|  | Community Employment Scheme (CE) This is an employment scheme funded by FAS to enable lone parents, people with a disability and other welfare payments recipients get part-time work experience. There are 2 options under this scheme: 1. Part Time Integration for those aged 21 to 35 2. Part Time Job Option for those aged 35 and over. Under both schemes you can work 39 hours a fortnight or 19 & a half hours a week and are paid an allowance by the sponsor. |
|  | Disability Allowance/Invalidity Pension If you are on disability allowance you may work (Rehabilitative Employment) and have the first €120 of your earnings disregarded when calculating weekly means. You must have written permission from the Department of Social and Family Affairs and medical evidence from your GP before you take up employment. |
|  | Job Initiative Scheme This scheme is designed to provide full time employment experience for people who have been long-term unemployed. Jobs are advertised through FAS, the Local Employment Service, Local Resource Centres, etc. |
|  | VTOS Scheme Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme is operated through the VEC’s. They provide education and training opportunities free of charge.

|  | FAS Training Courses Fas is the State Training and Employment Authority. In each office there is a placement Officer whose job it is to provide you with training, education and course options. |  | Rehab Group NTDI NTDI Disability Support Service is a confidential service. When a person initially approaches the service the Disability Support Officer will carry out a needs identification process with them to ensure they get the support they need in areas such as transport; assistive technology; benefits; class and study support, and one to one tuition. www.rehab.ie |
